30 Apr Grobund Construction festival
I’m going to give a workshop how to make a balafon frame during the ‘Grubund Byggefest’! on the coast of Denmark not far from Aarhus. It is a small-scale festival that focuses on creativity and will be held from 15 to 20 July. My love Karin is learning the Danish language and we thought it would be fun to do something active during our vacation where we could have a lot of contact with Danish people. In our search on the internet we came across this festival where, in addition to the music in the evening and during the day, all kinds of construction projects can be worked on. I asked the organizers of the Festival if I could do a workshop in which I make 2 frames for balafons. I’m going to work on two frames in teams with two or three people. Hereby I bring two sets of keys and calabashes from the Netherlands to bind to in the frames. In that way I can make two nice balafones on the spot. One of them will get a place in the music center of the Grobund community. This is an initiative that is building a sustainable, waste-free and debt-free community. This ‘Grobund Byggefest’ is also being held at the location where their ‘eco-village’ started. Of cours I will take a few small balafons for workshops as well.

Grobund Byggfest a festival that focuses on creativity! By creating, building and learning with the head and hands, we create frameworks for, intercultural encounters, diversity, cooperation, celebration and colors. The Grobund Building Festival is like an amusement park with building attractions instead of roller coasters! We are looking for building materials, tools and help for every construction site or offer the opportunity to participate in a larger project that is organized by experienced builders. We offer activities and construction projects in which both children and adults can participate. You do not need any craft experience and you decide how much you want to build and how much you want to enjoy. You can also participate in common food, workshops, lectures and concerts.
Everyone is a co-creator at the festival
