Dunumba Ancienne Kato

Last updated 9 November 2018

According to Mamoudou ‘Delmundo’ Keïta, Dunumba Ancienne Kato is a very old forerunner of the Dunumba rhythms that was played in his native village of Kato. It is striking that the kenkeni does not have a standard ‘Dunumba pattern’. The echauffement is used by the djembé soloist, but the doundoun player must land on the first line of the sangban party with his / her landing.
