Kanin

Last updated 11 April 2004

Dutch

Kanin means friendship and is a Malinke-rhythm created by Mamady Keïta during when he was the artistic leader of the National Ballet de Guinea. It was then played in one composition after Denadon. The song is in Sousou.

Bayira yo Konko baa yirayo Bayira Konko baa yirayo
Bayira yo Konko baa yirayo I fakhi nakhama ikhuma
Imamkha gbi lenra Bayira Konko baa yirayo

But not that, Konko (name of a boy), but not that;
Pick up that thing that you brought me and get out of here with it!
