Koniya Ba

New on 5 March 2023

Dutch French

K Koniya Ba is a Bambara / Djoula song from Burkina Faso. It sings of the dislike of a meddler. Such a person makes you tired and those persons do not interest you (me). Then again, in the song, you can replace a word with a name (of someone who also has such an aversion to it).

Song 1: A koniya ba bèyé toro, ha wa koni-ya ba bèyé toro (2x)

Song 2: Ha wa koni-ya ba bèyé toro, ha wa koni-ya ba bèyé toro

Song 3: E – yee – he ya hee
(did you get it right?)

Song 4: Doga moggo njouma, dogo moggo kolo
(Someone can be good (njouma) to one person, but bad (kolo) to another)

Song 5 (Yaya zong dit): Ki me yi mousso bwe bo si na, an do ne camelea ya yoggo la

Ha wa’ you can replace with a name: also someone who does not like (gets tired of) people who need to know everything, and interfere with everything.

Koniya Ba

When I was in Bobo in 2022, Sidiki visited our hotel offering to buy Bara’s from him. We had a nice conversation, but I would not order a Bara from him again.
