It seems that Didadi is a rhythm of the Bamana from South Mali (Wassolon / Sikasso / Djitoumou, south of Bamako). In the Sikasso region the ‘Didadidoundoun‘ is used when playing this rhythm. It is used for celebration at the end of the year and on receipt of highly honoured guests. It is one of the Malian rhythms in which one doundoun player plays two overlaid doundouns. It is an easily dance able rhythm where everyone is free to dance his or her own interpretation. There are (slow) three-quarter and (fast) four-quarter variations of encountered.
